Mediation
Mediation:
Mediation can take place prior to filing a petition (lawsuit) with the Court or at any stage after filing. Mediation can be conducted with or without attorneys. If your are represented by an attorney, you may request that MARINA D. PETILLO be selected to assist you. If you are representing yourself (pro se), she looks forward to working with the parties to explore your options and to get the information you need to make the right decisions for your family and, hopefully, reach an agreement.
Mediations can take place virtually by ZOOM, at MARINA D. PETILLO'S office in Palm Beach Gardens, at the office of one of the attorneys (if attorneys are involved) or at another mutually agreed upon location. Her rates for mediations are very reasonable and lower than most other mediators in the area. There is no charge for travel time. For more information or to schedule an appointment or mediation with Marina D. Petillo, please call (561) 656-2015 or email directly at mpetilloesq@gmail.com.
Pro- Se Mediation: MINIMIZE THE COST & STRESS OF DIVORCE/FAMILY ACTION.
Pro Se - A party to a lawsuit who represents themself is appearing in the case pro se. In Florida, couples can obtain a divorce without retaining attorneys.
In addition, more parties are representing themselves in Paternity and other Family Law matters. Mediation can certainly be the best option if you and the other party are willing to work together to minimize losses both emotionally and financially.
In almost all almost all Divorce and Paternity matters in Palm Beach County, the parties will be required to attend a mediation before they are able to appear before a Judge. Mediation is usually mandatory before a temporary relief hearing or the final trial in a case. The mediator acts as an impartial/neutral facilitator who attempts to assist the parties in reaching a mutually acceptable resolution. The mediator will assist the parties in working through issues related to their divorce (division of assets and liabilities, alimony, parental responsibility, time sharing and child support) or paternity action (parental responsibility, time- sharing, child support and other child related issues). It is important to note that a Mediator does not dictate any outcome and should never force or coerce either party to settle. Only the people involved in the matter can make the final decision.
